BC’s Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, Corporate Services Division has been recognized for their outstanding commitment and support of Cooperative Education and Work Integrated Learning.  Nominated by Camosun College, this valued employer partner hired a record number of students in 2021 and stepped up by taking on a very active mentorship role in their Career Development Workplace Preparation courses as well as at Alumni and Employer Networking panels and Interview Clinics. Once hired, co-op students were invited to attend internal networking activities within the Ministry to help them to adjust and learn about the Ministry’s work culture. This supportive approach to career development has proven to be effective as a recruitment strategy for co-op education programs as well as for new graduate hiring. This makes the Corporate Services Division of the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction an impressive example of the mutually beneficial relationship that results from formalized integrated collaboration between employer and Post-Secondary Institutions.
