The Awards Committee is very pleased to announce the recipient for the 2022 Industry Partner of the Year Award. A number of strong recommendations were submitted but after narrowing down the choices the committee selected Bonnie Burnside and the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association.

The Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association (DSBIA) has been recognized for their outstanding commitment and support of Cooperative Education and Work Integrated Learning. Nominated by Simon Fraser University’s Work Integrated Learning program, the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association (DSBIA) has been an invaluable partner to their institution, having supported 158 Co-op work terms since 2009, and specifically, 17 work terms in 2022, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to supporting the professional growth of SFU Co-op students.
Bonnie Burnside and the Downtown Surrey BIA have demonstrated a consistent and exceptional commitment to SFU’s Co-op program; transforming the lives of our students through the experiences they have working with the DSBIA. Bonnie’s advocacy for federal funding, leadership in community organizations, and inspiration as a role model, have made a significant impact on our students, our Co- op program, and the community.
