Students in the Tourism and Hotel Management post-diploma program complete an 80-hour practicum. The practicum is an instructor-led course that provides students the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge they have acquired in the classroom in a workforce environment.

Students in the Post-Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management have already completed a bachelor or master’s degree and many have worked in related fields overseas. Students learn the knowledge, analytical, interpersonal and practical skills needed to pursue supervisory and management roles in the rapidly expanding domestic and international tourism and hotel management markets.

The final course of the program is the Practicum, where students get “real life” hospitality experience working at various host agencies. During the first semesters of the program students learn about the different sectors of the tourism industry (Accommodation, F&B, Events) and have opportunities to earn important hospitality certificates, including Serving It Right, Food Safe and SuperHost.

Hosts have numerous positive outcomes from the practicum and previous partners highlighted the benefits of having inputs from different perspectives, especially considering the diversity of CNC students, and the use of up-to-date and innovative methodologies. Among the activities that can be developed during the practicum are marketing plans, competition analysis, content marketing, surveys, besides more traditional activities such as shadowing and training.

Many students are available for work experience, internships or for hire at the end of a semester following final exams. Many of our programs end in the spring. So be sure to connect with us in the fall or January/February with postings.
